Lamont — The Lamont City Council on Dec. 21 reviewed the job description and benefit package for a new Public Works director, directed the City Clerk to post help-wanted advertisements, and discussed interim arrangements to keep water and wastewater services running until a permanent hire is in place.
Councilmembers reviewed proposed advertisement language and interview questions for the director post but took no hiring action at the special meeting, which Mayor Mary Ann Dozark called to order at 7:02 p.m. Councilmember Slack moved, and Councilmember Devlin seconded, a motion to approve the meeting agenda; all voted aye and the motion carried.
The council reported that staff have contacted two affidavit operators who agreed to send written quotes to provide interim coverage of water and wastewater operations while the city recruits a new director. Council members also said they are seeking an independent contractor to handle snow removal until the new hire is on duty; the contractor should hold a Class B commercial driver’s license.
The City Clerk, Paula J. Harvey, was assigned to post the help-wanted ads for the Public Works director and related openings. Councilmembers reviewed the interview questions that will be used to screen candidates but set no interview dates during the meeting.
The meeting concluded with a motion by Councilmember Slack, seconded by Councilmember Devlin, to adjourn; the vote was unanimous and the meeting ended at 8:20 p.m.
No ordinances, resolutions, appointments, or contract awards were made at the meeting. Details such as deadlines for posting the advertisement, the amounts requested in any interim-operator quotes, and the timeline for hiring were not specified in the meeting record.
