Stone Park reports hires, public works updates and a planned appointment after recording secretary resignation

Director of Public Safety Chris Pavini told the committee that the department hired three new part‑time officers with start dates between April 14 and April 23, 2026, and that the village posted openings for auxiliary officers and received a strong applicant response. The announcement came during department reports at the April 14 meeting.

Public Works Director Jessica Ramirez reported routine seasonal operations: branch pickup season has begun; grass seed was applied at the Stone Park Sports & Entertainment Complex; Mazzulla Park has reopened for the season; Fairway Landscaping resumed grass cutting in line with the prior board vote; sewer cleaning occurred on 1800 N 43rd Avenue; street sweeping season began; and street light repairs were scheduled for the 1700 and 1800 blocks of 33rd Avenue.

Fire & Police Commissioner Rosemary Sapoznik announced that Recording Secretary Marielle Villa submitted her letter of resignation and said the board is requesting Christine Villanueva as the replacement; Sapoznik said Villanueva’s name will be submitted for the mayor’s annual appointment at the next board meeting. The minutes do not record a formal appointment during this session.

Trustee Marco A. Gutierrez moved to adjourn the meeting; Trustee Nazario Garcia seconded. The motion passed with unanimous aye votes from the trustees in attendance, and the committee adjourned at 6:31 p.m. The minutes list no additional new business.
