Planning & Zoning representative Bob Rush (S3) explained the amendment originated from a white paper that framed the issue and asked the commission to draft definitions and code amendments to ensure dewatering is done properly so as to prevent erosion on public and private property and avoid releasing contaminants into nearby waterways. Rush read a synopsis of the proposed amendment and said the full text is included in the council briefing packet.
The item was presented for discussion as a first reading and will come back to council at a future meeting for further discussion and a vote.
Next steps: Council will review the draft amendment, accept public input at the next meeting and schedule the ordinance for a later vote.
