The Gaylord City Council handled several housekeeping and personnel items, adopting two ordinances, hiring a temporary library director and certifying unpaid invoices for collection with 2025 property taxes.
On unfinished business the council completed a second reading and adopted Ordinance No. 368, updating chapter 72 (recreation and other vehicles). After an earlier public hearing with no speakers, the council also adopted Ordinance No. 369, which amends the city charter’s Section 58 (Levy and collection of taxes) to reference current state statutes and align levy submission deadlines.
The council approved hiring Barb CR as temporary library director at pay grade seven, step four, to assist with administrative duties and training of a new director. "She's willing to come in for a few hours once a week just to kind of help with some of the administrative duties," staff said; the motion to hire passed by voice vote.
The Personnel Committee presented updated job descriptions for the police chief and Public Works director, including minimum requirements and ADA considerations; the council approved the updates. The council also approved Resolution No. 2024-33 certifying unpaid invoices (such as building permits) for certification to the county for collection with 2025 property taxes.
Before adjourning to a closed session on a property purchase offer, council members confirmed routine scheduling items and interviews for a new library director. The meeting recessed to a closed session under Minnesota statute 13D.05 subdivision 3(c)(3) to consider a purchase offer for a property legally described in the record.
