Cedar Grove board approves consent resolutions, donations and names new high school vice principal

The Cedar Grove Board of Education approved a slate of routine resolutions Monday, accepted two donor gifts and introduced its new high school vice principal.

Under the business administrator’s report the board moved to approve consent items G1 through G34, including a minor amendment to G27 clarifying Ms. Keegan’s employment status with a NJEA bargaining unit. The board recorded two donor acknowledgments: a contribution from the Memorial Middle School FSA toward a new middle-school sign and a separate donation from the Pat McCarthy Memorial Foundation for weight-room upgrades. The chair called the roll and announced that all motions passed; Ms. Keegan noted an abstention on G6.

The board then approved general administration items (H1–H6), human resources items (I1–I16) — with a minor date correction to I1C (September 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027) — special services items (J1–J2) and the curriculum motion K1, all by roll call as recorded in the meeting.

In personnel business the board approved the hiring of Brian Hicks as the new high school vice principal. Hicks, who said he is joining the district from Dover High School where he served as vice principal for four years, thanked the board and said he will begin next Wednesday.

The board also took time to recognize the Cedar Grove High School 2026 varsity baseball team for winning the NJSIAA North 2 Group 1 sectional championship, listing players and coaches and inviting family members to the stage for applause.
