On the alley ordinance, staff explained the vacation reflects paperwork that had been intended but not completed when the daycare/children’s center obtained property. No public commenters spoke during the hearing on the alley vacation, and the council closed the public hearing before advancing the ordinance.
Other actions included routine approvals: consent agenda items (minutes, monthly claims, revenue and expense reports, and several permit renewals) and an intergovernmental maintenance agreement with the Iowa DOT for Highway 175 maintenance funding. Council discussion on these items was limited and centered on fiscal oversight and process.
What’s next: The alley ordinance was approved for publication. The new council member is seated and will participate in upcoming agenda items.
