Greta Fura, chair of the Livermore Youth Council, presented the council’s annual update at the June 22 meeting, summarizing activities and attendance figures and outlining priorities for the coming year.
Fura said the Youth Council meets monthly and includes 20 youth members in grades 7–12. Highlights included a Halloween costume contest (15 contestants), a new Turkey Trot (about 80 participants and more than 100 canned‑food donations), a holiday carnival (about 250 participants), Livermore's Got Talent (65 attendees), a World’s Fair that celebrated cultures with roughly 110 attendees and mental‑health fairs with more than 200 students at school lunchtime events. She said the council has staff liaisons including Nathan Brmley (library), McKenna Nation (LARPD adult liaison) and Tracy Christmas (LBJUSD connections).
Planned projects include supporting a new teen space at the library, expanding the Turkey Trot, pursuing a mental‑health outreach campaign for students and working to place and maintain a movable community piano downtown for public use.
Council members praised the group’s turnout and community engagement; no formal council action was required.
