Utility board amends foreman wage language to avoid cascading raises

The Eldridge Electric and Water Utility Board on Sept. 23 approved Resolution 2025-15 to amend previously adopted wage-differential language for the electric department’s foreman position.
Sandy, who presented the item to the board, said the earlier resolution established the foreman as a fixed dollar amount above a journeyman that, after a recent foreman increase, would have unintentionally raised all other pay grades. Sandy said the amendment preserves a $100 differential for the foreman without triggering broader raises.
Board members moved and seconded the resolution and a roll-call vote was held; the board voted to adopt the change. The amendment will be incorporated into the city’s compensation resolution for the electric department and staff said administrative updates will follow.
The board did not change wage amounts for other positions in this action; the item was described as a technical correction to implement the board’s earlier pay decision without creating unintended consequences.
