District outlines Measure M projects: interim housing, Carver demolition and summer playground work

San Marino Unified School District staff on June 23 provided a progress update on Measure M projects across district sites, outlining near‑term activity and neighborhood outreach plans.
Jim Burlu, the district’s bond program manager, told the board that interim housing installations are scheduled to begin at San Marino High School and Valentine as early as the next day, with interior fit‑out aimed to be completed by the end of July so staff can occupy them before school resumes. "The interim housing will probably be done hopefully right before school starts," Burlu said. He added that the Will Scott manufacturer had been contacted to accelerate delivery and that the district expects a tight schedule.
Burlu described demolition and site cleanup at Carver Elementary beginning the following day, with site construction targeting mid‑July start (around July 13) for playground installation. He also detailed roofing bids to be issued for three high‑school buildings and HVAC submittals going to DSA this week. Project teams have distributed flyers to neighbors and coordinated with site leaders to minimize impacts on summer school and local leagues.
