Manager reports: zoning amendment public hearing set; borough backs PennDOT charging grant; towing ordinance not advertised

Borough Manager Cindy Wells used the council meeting on Aug. 27 to provide community and procedural updates. She said the next council meeting will be Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. and that a public hearing will be held for an amendment to the zoning ordinance; the hearing and a separate vote on an amendment to the parking ordinance will be advertised twice as required.
Wells said the borough is sending a letter of support for a PennDOT Charging & Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant application along the U.S. Route 6 corridor. The manager also reported several upcoming community events: an Erie County Planning/EMS meeting at Fort LeBoeuf on Aug. 28; a Devereaux Day kickoff on Sept. 13 to promote park and trail improvements and the Erie-to-Pittsburgh trail head; free Community Emergency Response Team training on Sept. 27–29; and the UPMC Hamot Erie County Firefighters Association Safety Awards dinner on Sept. 27.
Council discussed procurement for a towing ordinance and opted not to advertise for bids, the minutes state. Manager Wells also announced a staff meeting to present health insurance plans on Sept. 25. The minutes record these as informational updates; where required, public hearings and ordinance advertisements will follow legal notice requirements.
