The Union City Borough Council voted unanimously on Aug. 27 to accept a $16,679 quote from Construction Services of PA to install a canoe/kayak launch at the American Legion ball field, contingent on receipt of an easement from the American Legion.
Manager Cindy Wells said two written quotes were reviewed and verified by the borough’s engineer at The EADS Group. Blum Property Services, LLC submitted a quote of $18,541.50 and Construction Services of PA submitted the $16,679 quote that the council accepted. Because the project cost was under $23,200, formal sealed bidding was not required under the borough’s procedures, the minutes state.
Councilor Osborn moved to accept the Construction Services of PA quote and Councilor Kerns seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The award is contingent on the borough receiving the necessary easement from the American Legion.
