Sigourney City Council accepts community pavilion and takes ownership of adjacent sidewalks

The Sigourney City Council unanimously approved final acceptance of the Sigourney Community Pavilion and authorized Mayor Jimmy Morlan to sign a Bill of Sale transferring the pavilion from the Kiwanis Club of Sigourney to the city.
City Clerk Ashley Fry told the council that after she sent the original Bill of Sale the county submitted an amended version adding the sidewalks that lead up to the pavilion. Fry said the county wanted the city to take ownership of those sidewalks; the council agreed and approved Resolution No. 2025-09-23, Final Acceptance of the Sigourney Community Pavilion. Council member Conrad moved the acceptance and Council member Lentz seconded; the motion passed with Ayes: Schultz, Clark, Conrad, McLaughlin, Iosbaker and Lentz.
Council then approved a separate motion authorizing the mayor to sign the Bill of Sale with the Kiwanis Club of Sigourney. Council member Iosbaker moved and Council member Conrad seconded that authorization; the motion passed unanimously.
The decisions complete the transfer of the pavilion structure and, per the amended Bill of Sale noted at the meeting, include ownership of the sidewalks leading to the pavilion. The council did not discuss a construction punch-list or post-acceptance warranty terms during the meeting.
The council set no additional conditions at the meeting; the next regular meeting was scheduled for Sept. 16, 2025. The signed minutes are attested by Mayor Jimmy Morlan and City Clerk Ashley Fry.
