The Lancaster City Council spent part of its meeting recognizing organizations that participate in the City Partnership Program and acknowledging their contributions to events, recreation programs and community outreach. Staff highlighted partners including Antelope Broadcasting, Antelope Valley College, AVTA, Destination Lancaster, Edwards Federal Credit Union, High Desert Medical Group, Kaiser Permanente, Point Broadcasting, Race Communications, Toyota of Lancaster, Valleywide Dental and WM.
Council also presented the Mayor Rex Parris Scholarship Award; staff read the names of recipients and stated each scholarship is $1,000. In a civic recognition segment, Mayor Rex Parris gave longtime community volunteer Jim Voss the key to the city in thanks for decades of service leading the planning commission and other civic work.
The council thanked partners for supporting events ranging from the California Poppy Festival to Magical Boulevard Christmas and invited partners to receive certificates and group photographs following the ceremony.
