Library staff presented February circulation statistics (1,336 materials checked out), program attendance numbers and upcoming author events; staff said the library will be closed for inventories on three Mondays and that a humidifier was installed in the genealogy room to protect older materials.
The library reported receiving 25 individual radon detectors from the American Lung Association to distribute to residents, with the ALA providing follow-up forms for a 30/60-day check-in. Staff noted that an Iowa trust established by Normaene Warner will distribute $941.69 to qualifying small libraries and that Glenwood’s senior center will receive more than $3,000 from that trust.
Police Chief Johansson distributed revised job descriptions for captain and lieutenant posts and reported the department assisted county authorities on a recent search-warrant operation. Fire/EMS Chief Gray delivered a call-volume summary (materials provided list 259 calls), said a new federal-state reporting system is only partially operational, described state training props that saved training costs, and said he is awaiting results on three grants and is pursuing a collections-agency relationship for EMS billing to use state setoff programs.
Council did not take formal action on departmental reports other than to accept the information and to ask staff to follow up on items that require later agenda action.
