She said Kindering serves more than 100 Kenmore children and read two quotes from parents about why Disability Pride matters. One parent described their family as "the proud parents of a brave little girl with cerebral palsy," and another, a parent named Sunny who is blind, said, "People with disabilities are contributing enormously to this community and the more you include them the more they can contribute."
Mindetta framed the proclamation as more than symbolic—an opportunity to raise awareness of disability culture, history, and identity and to encourage community inclusion. Mayor Herbig invited Mindetta and others to pose for a quick photograph at the flag at the close of remarks.
The proclamation notes local partnerships, including Kindering, and highlighted that Disability Pride Month commemorates the July 26, 1990, signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
