The Romulus City Council took a series of formal actions on June 22. Major outcomes of the meeting included:
- Rezoning: Council approved the second reading and final adoption of conditional rezoning RZ-2024-001 for Pilot Travel Center (25.53 acres at 10250 Vining Road) by a 4–3 vote. The approval is conditional on a finalized rezoning agreement, special land-use approval and revised administrative site plan.
- HUD CDBG subrecipient agreement: Council concurred with administration to enter a Wayne County subrecipient agreement for HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for fiscal years 2025–2027 in the amount of $20,000; motion carried by roll call.
- Michigan Drone Association MOU: Council authorized the mayor and clerk to execute an MOU with the Michigan Drone Association establishing a framework for a regional UAS task force and sensor/data–sharing for public-safety drone operations.
- Streets change order: Council approved a change order with Roe for the Wade and Superior HMA project in the amount of $623,329 to extend construction to Cogswell Street from Wade to Wabash; finance staff confirmed budgeted funds.
- Fleet purchase: Council approved piggyback purchase of a 2026 Ford Bronco Sport for the cable department from Gorno Ford for $36,295 (funds available in cable TV fund).
- Fee schedule: Council adopted the 2026–27 municipal fee schedule to take effect July 1, 2026.
- Warrant approval: Council approved warrant 26-12 totaling $4,058,206.04 across multiple funds, including General Fund ($147,524.93), Local Street Fund ($506,960.15), Public Safety Fund ($582,338.21) and Tax Increment Finance Authority ($654,291.25).
- Block party permits and honorary sign: Council approved a July 4 block-party street closure request and granted an exemption to the application deadline to approve an honorary street sign recognizing Henry C. Horry.
Each approved item was moved and seconded during the meeting and recorded in the minutes; administrative staff will finalize agreements and prepare follow-up materials (for example, the conditional rezoning agreement and the block-party permit).
