The Simsbury Board of Assessment Appeals met March 11 and approved a series of changes to the 2025 Grand List after hearing property and personal-property appeals.
Sheree Landerman, a board member who presided over the meeting, and Scott Barnett, also a board member, moved and seconded motions on each case; alternate member Kenneth Williams was seated for votes. All actions taken at the meeting were recorded as passing unanimously, 3-0.
The board denied a change request by Robert E. Patricelli for 69 Hartford Road, noting the applicant’s exemption filing was late (noted in the record as 141-39). Scott Barnett moved for no change; the motion was seconded by Sheree Landerman and approved 3-0.
The board reduced the assessed value for Donald E. and Patricia H. Uhl’s property at 3 Higate Lane from $299,740 to $279,160. Sheree Landerman made the motion; Scott Barnett seconded and the revision passed unanimously.
Scott Barnett moved to revise the personal property assessment for Iron Horse Nutrition LLC from $15,410 to $0 on the basis that the business closed prior to Oct. 1, 2025. The board approved the change 3-0.
The board voted to increase Eversource Energy Service Co.’s personal property assessment from $13,090 to $23,666 after a motion by Scott Barnett and a second from Sheree Landerman; the motion passed unanimously.
Sheree Landerman moved to reduce Little Sprigs LLC’s personal property assessment from $62,350 to $2,651; Scott Barnett seconded and the board approved the reduction 3-0.
Two appeals were tabled for further information: Michele Equale’s 2024 Grand List personal property appeal was tabled to the board’s March 17, 2026 meeting pending additional documentation from the owner; and the board tabled Nevin E. Christensen’s appeal pending additional information from the town assessor, also to be heard on March 17, 2026. Both tabling motions passed unanimously.
Two appellants did not appear: Xerox Financial Services Inc. (personal property) and Jacqueline Lampert (2024 Grand List personal property). The board recorded the no-shows and took no action on those files.
Scott Barnett moved to adjourn at 8:52 p.m.; the motion passed unanimously and the meeting concluded. The board is scheduled to reconvene on March 17, 2026 to continue cases that were tabled.
