Huxley staff to bring mosquito-control options and Railroad Park stump plan back to council May 27

During the work-session portion of the May 13 meeting, Parks & Recreation Director Heather Denger told the council that the city’s current mosquito-control company will not provide services this season. Denger presented cost estimates comparing outsourcing mosquito control to performing the work using existing staff. A representative identified as Rich from Mosquito Control of Iowa described the services his firm provides.
The council provided direction for staff to add mosquito control as an item on the May 27 agenda for a formal vote. Separately, Parks and Recreation staff explained the need to have stumps in Railroad Park professionally ground down; the council agreed by consensus to place the Railroad Park stump-grinding item on the May 27 agenda for council action.
