The Brown Deer School Board on June 11 approved two personnel actions for 2026–27. The board unanimously approved Courtney Tulso to serve as a one-year LTE third-grade teacher beginning Aug. 24, 2026, temporarily filling in for Amanda Gowitz, who is taking a one-year leave of absence. "Welcome Courtney to the team," a board member said after the vote.
The board also approved the employment agreement for Sean Kaine as director of facilities and grounds. Administrators said Kaine will begin onboarding on June 29 so he can complete trainings and receive keys before his contract officially begins July 1; his first day working in the field is expected to be July 1. The motion to approve Kaine’s employment passed 4–0.
Board members asked whether the early onboarding days (June 29–30) would be paid; administrators confirmed the assignment days are paid and the contract term begins July 1. The hires were presented by Miss Jackson and moved and seconded by board members during the meeting. The board welcomed both hires at the public meeting.
No additional conditions or benefits were specified in the public discussion. The board did not amend the employment agreements during the meeting.
The board adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
