Southampton Township Committee adopts 2019 audit, corrective action plan and consent agenda

The Southampton Township Committee voted unanimously Oct. 20 to accept the township’s 2019 annual audit, approve the audit’s corrective action plan and adopt a consent agenda of financial and procedural items.

Committeeman Ronald Heston moved to accept the 2019 annual report of audit (Resolution 2020-99); Deputy Mayor William Raftery seconded, and a roll-call vote recorded all five members in the affirmative. The committee immediately approved Resolution 2020-100, which approves the corrective action plan responding to audit recommendations, after Committeeman Heston moved and Committeewoman Elizabeth Rossell seconded.

The consent agenda (Resolutions 2020-101 through 2020-104) was considered and approved in a single roll-call vote after Committeewoman Rossell moved the consent slate and Committeeman Heston seconded. The consent items included: cancellation of certain 2020 budget appropriations (2020-101); a resolution supporting high-speed internet accessibility (2020-102); adoption of remote public meeting procedures during a declared state of emergency (2020-103); and additional adjustments to the tax collector’s records and accounts (2020-104). The committee also approved bills for payment during the meeting.

The actions were procedural and unanimous; no dissenting votes were recorded. The committee did not discuss implementation details of the consent items at length during the meeting. The ordinance items listed on the agenda remain pending review and were scheduled for second reading and public comment on Nov. 17, 2020.
