UN flags renewed displacement in Haiti and warns 2026 appeal is underfunded

The briefing noted that Doctors Without Borders suspended activities at a maternity facility in Cité Soleil on June 19, affecting maternal and reproductive health access.
IOM data cited in the briefing indicated more than 117,000 people were returned to Haiti between January and June 2026, with 24% women and 8% children among the forcibly returned. Briefers said the UN's $880 million humanitarian appeal for 2026 is only 27% funded, leaving major gaps in the response.
The briefing did not announce new international funding pledges during the session and said OCHA and partners are continuing needs assessments and response planning.
