Planning panel approves Racetrack Inc. final plat and amended site plan

The Hobart redevelopment authority approved final plat and amended site plan applications tied to Racetrack Incorporated’s project.

Ben Sumeet of Polar Engineering presented the consolidated final plat and explained staff comments had been addressed; he said the applicant sought final approval that evening. Sumeet introduced the site plan amendments — including highway dedication and turn‑lane/roadway improvements — and said traffic counts and analysis had been reviewed. "We're hoping to get a final approval tonight," he told the board.

Planning staff and commissioners reviewed minor, technical revisions and confirmed site plan items such as added culverts and turn lanes reflected the latest coordination with the highway authority. One commissioner moved to approve the final plat and amended site plan; the motion carried on voice vote.

Why it matters: Final plat approval moves the project from conceptual approval toward construction readiness, triggering subsequent permitting and any required roadway or utility work.
