Southampton approves Ridge Road contract, emergency vehicle change orders and budget measures; fire departments report federal grants

At its April 18 meeting, the Southampton Township Committee approved several administrative and finance actions, including a contract for Ridge Road improvements funded under the 2022 NJDOT Municipal Aid Program, multiple change orders for a Spartan emergency response vehicle, a cooperative agreement with Burlington County for participation in the Community Development Act of 1974, and an emergency temporary budget for 2023.
Committeeman James F. Young moved to award the Ridge Road improvements contract; Deputy Mayor William Raftery seconded, and the motion passed by roll call. The committee approved Resolution 2023-43 authorizing Change Orders A, No. 1–6 related to the Spartan emergency response vehicle; that resolution and Resolution 2023-42 (county cooperative agreement) and Resolution 2023-44 (emergency temporary budget) also passed by roll call as recorded in the minutes.
The meeting also included routine approvals: licenses for trailers and a tattoo studio were granted and the committee approved the bills for payment.
Public-safety and volunteer emergency services gave monthly reports. Hampton Lakes Fire Department reported receiving a FEMA SAFER recruitment and retention grant totaling $273,515 and said the new truck was expected within a week; the Vincent Fire Department reported the first year of a SAFER grant had been completed. Hampton Lakes Emergency Squad reported 4,125 miles on its fleet for March. Township Administrator/Clerk Kathleen D. Hoffman announced Hazardous Waste/Clean-up Day on May 6, 2023, and said brush pickup occurs every tax quarter; Acting CFO Kinjal Patel completed bank reconciliations for January through March.
