Christian County Commission approves permit fee changes, renews drug-screening contract and names two library trustees

Presiding Commissioner Lynn Morris said the June 11 regular session was called to order at 9:00 a.m. with Western Commissioner Johnny Williams and Eastern Commissioner Bradley A. Jackson also present. The commission first approved the consent agenda, which included the posted meeting agenda, Certified Commission Order No. 06-11-2026-01, and minutes for prior regular and closed sessions (closed sessions referenced RSMo 610.021.2 for real estate and 610.021.3 for personnel). The vote on the consent agenda was moved by Western Commissioner Johnny Williams, seconded by Eastern Commissioner Bradley A. Jackson, and carried 3-0 (Jackson, Morris, Williams).
The commission then heard from Resource Management Director Todd Wiesehan about recommended changes to building permit fees. After discussion, Presiding Commissioner Lynn Morris called for a motion to adopt the recommended fee schedule. Western Commissioner Johnny Williams moved to approve the changes, Eastern Commissioner Bradley A. Jackson seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. The fee changes are scheduled to take effect on July 2, 2026.
Later in the meeting, Employee Services Director Amber Bryant and Purchasing Manager Kim Hopkins-Will presented a renewal of ITB #2023-8 for Employee Drug Screening Services with DSI Medical Services, Inc. The commission approved the contract renewal with a unanimous 3-0 vote following a motion by Western Commissioner Johnny Williams and a second by Eastern Commissioner Bradley A. Jackson.
On appointments, the commission considered two open seats on the Christian County Library Board of Trustees: one for South County (townships: North Galloway, South Galloway, Saddlebrooke, North Linn, South Linn) and one for the Nixa Area (townships: Union Chapel, Northview, Rosedale, Garden Grove). The record shows South County’s prior trustee, Echo Schneider, had resigned after no longer residing in that township; the Nixa Area seat had an expired term. The commission received four applicants — Ashley Popejoy, David Rice, Echo Schneider and Koleman Parsley — and noted that none of the applicants reside in the South County area.
