Bernalillo accepts $500,000 NMDOT cooperative agreement for Old Highway 44 bridge rehabilitation

The Town of Bernalillo on Aug. 26 approved Resolution 08/26/2024A to accept State Road Funds administered by the New Mexico Department of Transportation for a bridge rehabilitation project on Old Highway 44 at the Albuquerque Main Canal.
Terri Gray, Finance Director, presented the cooperative agreement (Control Number LP30046), which sets the total project cost at $500,000 and records the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s share as 100% ($500,000) with the Town of Bernalillo’s proportional matching share listed as 0% ($0). The agreement document notes that the town will pay any costs that exceed $500,000 and that the agreement terminates on Dec. 31, 2026.
Councilor Valverde moved to approve Resolution 08/26/2024A; Councilor Torres-Quintana seconded. The roll-call vote recorded Councilor Torres-Quintana Yea, Councilor Montoya Yea and Councilor Valverde Yea, carrying the measure.
The resolution states the project is adopted and given priority standing under the cooperative agreement and incorporates the written covenants and terms between the parties. The cooperative agreement control number recorded in the minutes is LP30046. The town will proceed according to the cooperative agreement’s terms and any costs beyond the $500,000 allocation will be the town’s responsibility.
