The Hobart Redevelopment Commission on Monday approved a series of motions by voice vote, including an increase in workforce grant funding, acceptance of a school project scope change, authorization of a construction change order and payment applications.
The commission voted to increase the education and workforce training grant funding available for the 2027 cycle from $30,000 to $50,000 after a motion and second by members; the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff read a letter from Maryville School Corporation outlining a change in scope for a grant-supported project. As the letter said, "Rather than installing 8 outdoor food pantry boxes, our program purpose is shifting the focus to the design and construction of 8 indoor multipurpose distribution cabinets, 1 for each [marital / municipal] community school," a Presenter read to the board. Staff said the revised plan remains within the originally approved budget and the commission approved the revision.
The board approved Change Order No. 9 for the Colorado tracking project; staff told the commission the change order is approximately $6,688 (the transcript records the figure as "$6688.0.2") and said the larger project remains about $64,000 under budget. The commission approved the change order so work on electrical connections could continue.
A payment application for roundabout work was approved by voice vote. Staff discussed the finished product and emphasized minimal landscaping to avoid long-term maintenance obligations being shifted to Parks/Public Works; the payment amount discussed in the record was $253,350.
The register of claims (invoices presented in the meeting) totaling roughly $280,409.46 was approved by motion and voice vote. The commission also approved bond requisitions discussed in the meeting (requisition numbers referenced in the record include 76 and 77).
All listed motions in the meeting record were approved by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript.
