The Gaylord City Council on Aug. 7 approved Resolution 2024‑28 asking the state transportation authority to conduct speed studies on certain road segments where the city plans to install six grant‑funded radar speed signs.
City staff explained that the grant required up‑to‑date speed studies before signals could be installed and cautioned that the studies could result in either lowering or raising posted speed limits. A council member questioned how limits could increase; staff said the study determines statutory appropriate limits based on measured speeds and engineering criteria.
Council moved and seconded to approve Resolution 2024‑28; the motion carried by voice vote.
