The agreement also included mutually negotiated adjustments to callback procedures and other operational clarifications.
Councilmembers expressed support for the changes as a retention tool; one councilmember noted seven firefighters were lost last year and praised the higher starting pay. The council ratified the contract by motion and voice vote.
Implementation: the human resources and finance departments will update payroll and step schedules and implement the negotiated language per the contract effective in the FY2026 budget.
