Cliff Chase said he planned to keep six chickens for household eggs — “I eat at least six eggs a day,” he told the board — and presented letters of support from adjoining neighbors. Chase described predator protections, including hardware cloth buried around the coop perimeter, and said the unit is mobile but likely will remain in place because moving could increase predator risk.
Board members asked whether additional property could be purchased to meet dimensional requirements (none available) and noted letters in support helped the application. After hearing the testimony and noting the lack of objection, the board closed the public hearing and voted to grant the variance.
