Several councilors opposed late‑day events or road closures during peak summer weekends, citing complaints about residents' inability to exit driveways and the strain on parking and emergency access. The administration and police said they coordinate event details and can require additional traffic-control resources at organizers' expense.
Council approved the licenses and, where requested, amended dates or conditions (for example amending one Preservation Society event date). In the case of the Audrain Automotive parade and road-closure requests, council split the special-event license from the separate road-closure vote and recorded opposition to the closure while approving the related event license itself.
