Robert Thally, a Kingman resident, told the commission he has outlined a proposal for a closed-loop industrial water circulation system to reduce pressure on the city’s water supply as the region attracts advanced manufacturing and aerospace businesses. "Our region stands at a critical juncture as we continue to attract advanced manufacturing, aerospace and technology industries," Thally said, arguing that a closed-loop approach would be more resilient, sustainable and economically competitive.
Thally said the system could lower costs to the public, and that seeking approval and assistance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency could open federal funding opportunities that would reduce the city’s financial burden. He provided the commissioners with a written proposal and urged staff and the commission to review it.
Vice Chair Zimmerman acknowledged receipt of the written materials and reminded the public-comment rules that the commission may not respond during the call to the public; commissioners may direct staff to study the matter or place it on a future agenda. No commissioner asked questions during the public comment period, though members indicated the proposal could be reviewed by staff for possible future action.
The commission did not take immediate action on the proposal; the comment was entered into the record and the commission may choose to direct staff to evaluate the idea or add it to a future agenda for further consideration.
