Montebello mayor announces Jazz Fest, cleanup day and honors top students from Suffern High School

Mayor Lance N. Millman used the May 20 meeting to update residents on local events and recent activities. He announced that Jazz Fest will be held Sunday, Aug. 30 (1–6 p.m.) with free admission, noted completion of sidewalks on Route 59 and Hemion Road, and said Orange & Rockland will be completing several gas main overhauls in the area. He also alerted residents that President Trump was scheduled to speak at Rockland Community College on Friday, May 22 (3–4 p.m.) and that several area closings were expected.
The mayor invited applications from residents interested in serving on village boards and commissions and said the next Board of Trustees meeting date has moved to Wednesday, June 24 from the previously scheduled June 17. The Historic Preservation and Parks Commission reminded residents the Village clean-up day is May 31 (9 a.m.–noon) at Village Hall in partnership with Keep Rockland Beautiful.
Mayor Millman recognized students from Suffern High School who placed in the top 10% academically from Montebello—Aiden Antony, Hibbah Basit, Benjamin B. Courtney, Goldy Glauber, Daniel Hodge, Sarah A. Joseph, Sidharth P. Krishnam, Max P. Pearlman, Sarah H. Robinovitz, Jacob T. Santiago and Alexis A. Weinstein—presenting each with a certificate of academic achievement and a small gift.
