Agency City Council approves 7-year Waste Management contract, opts for smaller carts

The Agency City Council voted 5-0 Sept. 23 to approve a seven-year contract with Waste Management after the council required edits to the contract’s stated term and the trash-cart specification, Mayor Pro Tem Samantha Ulin said at a special meeting.
The changes Ulin identified — to be corrected before signing — included removing the number “three” and replacing it with “seven” in Section 2 on page four to reflect a seven-year term, and changing the trash-cart size listed on page 13 from 96 gallons to 64 gallons unless Waste Management agrees to change out the cans.
Council member Sara Jane Douglas moved to approve the contract with those corrections; Steve O’Brien seconded. The council made the action by roll call: Sara Jane Douglas, Andrew Birch, Steve O’Brien, Jacoby Deshler and Samantha Ulin voted aye. The motion passed unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting Jacoby Deshler moved to approve the agenda; Sara Jane Douglas seconded and the motion carried on a voice vote. After completing the contract vote, Deshler moved to adjourn; Douglas seconded and the special meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
