Mayor Jake Johnson told the council a lightning strike had disabled the watershed building and urged filing an insurance claim to cover the damage. He said Windstream had already replaced the internet modem at the facility.
Johnson also relayed a request from Wapello County to pave Chief Wapello Road. Council member Andrew Birch said the city’s budget is already tight and the request was not included in the budget; no action or commitment to fund the paving was taken at the meeting.
Council did not take formal action on either matter during the session; the insurance claim process was advised for the watershed building damage and the paving request was noted as not budgeted.
