Antigo board approves preliminary 2026-27 budget and multiple routine contracts

Following the extended discussion and vote on the aquatic center, the Unified School District of Antigo board approved several routine items and the district's preliminary 2026-27 budget.
The board voted 7-1 to adopt the preliminary budget as presented. Administrators cautioned that the document is a preliminary projection that will change as audited numbers, the third-Friday enrollment count and final levy decisions become available; the business director said the budget is a "30,000-foot view" and that audited 2024-25 numbers will be finalized after the year-end close and audit. One board member (Mike Brezicky) cast the lone no vote on the preliminary budget.
Other approvals that carried during the meeting included: - Second reading and approval of Neola policy 5460 on graduation requirements (as updated to reflect prior committee changes and course-credit realignment). - Acceptance of the AGR (Achievement Gap Reduction) 2026 spring data, a state-required report. - Approval of a Fortinet renewal bid from Camera Corner for $65,990 covering 2026-2029. - Approval of a five-year printer/copy RFP award to E.O. Johnson. - Authorization of annual Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) contributions for eligible staff not to exceed $68,475 (one board member recused from that vote).
Board members asked for further financial detail and offered to meet with the business director to walk through specific line items; administration said the audit and final budget work will continue over the summer and the board will consider final levy decisions in October. The meeting proceeded to a closed session later in the evening to handle personnel items.
