Curtis described a multi-part schedule centered on Veterans Memorial Park: the pets-and-people promenade (check-in 7–8 a.m.), live entertainment beginning at 9 a.m., a salute to the Union at 11:30 a.m., and a Rotary Club–sponsored fireworks display timed to start around 8:05 p.m. "The Rotary Club says it's going to be the biggest best fireworks display ever," Curtis said.
Curtis and hosts stressed safety: city crews and fire resources will be staged across viewing areas to extinguish any spot fires, and residents were urged to watch the public display rather than discharge aerial explosives themselves. "In Arizona, anything that goes in the air and goes boom is illegal," Curtis said, noting that ground-based consumer fireworks that do not explode in the air are allowed on private property with the owner's permission.
They also highlighted pet safety and risks from sparklers, and recommended not leaving children or pets in cars during hot weather. Curtis provided registration information for the pet promenade and encouraged the public to use Veterans Memorial Park or the sports fields as recommended viewing locations.
