Athens promotes City Source and Nixle alerts; Council on recess in July

Mayor Steve Patterson encouraged residents to download the Athens, Ohio City Source app and sign up for Nixle alerts (text 45701 to 888‑777) as free, customizable ways to receive city updates. He described both tools as ways residents can report issues and receive targeted alerts for severe weather, public safety and other city matters.
Patterson also reminded listeners that Athens City Council is on recess for the month of July after completing its business and will resume on Aug. 3; he said Planning Commission is scheduled to meet July 1 at 12:00 p.m. in Council Chambers and that a special committee meeting could be called during recess if needed.
The mayor encouraged residents to use the apps for timely information and said the city will post meeting notices and construction maps through those channels.
