The Madelia City Council on Oct. 13 unanimously approved Police Chief Rob Prescher’s resignation and scheduled a public forum on the future of the police department.
Council members voted to approve Prescher’s resignation in a single recorded motion; the transcript states Prescher will take a position with the City of Lake Crystal effective Jan. 1, 2026. The motion to accept the resignation was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Glen Christensen and carried with all members voting yes.
The council also approved a public forum for community discussion of the Police Department on Oct. 23, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. That motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Andy Gappa and passed unanimously.
