“Before the meeting, Councilmember Jerry Webb spoke to City Manager Greg Hutson about another episode of vandalism at Abney Park. The slides were spray painted,” the meeting record states. City Manager Greg Hutson said staff are looking into security options that may include cameras.
The council discussed an estimate from Red River Recreation for picnic tables and trash cans to replace old equipment at Abney Park. Webb asked whether the new items were in addition to previously approved work; Hutson said they would replace existing equipment. The council recommended Hutson seek additional, more affordable quotes rather than immediately approving the Red River Recreation estimate.
No formal vote was recorded on the picnic-tables estimate during the meeting; the council directed staff to return with options and pricing.
