York Public Schools board approves 2025–26 student handbooks, fees and a package of policies

At its July 14, 2025, meeting the York Public Schools Board of Education approved a set of policy changes, adopted student handbooks and set 2025–26 prices for activity passes, meals, breakfast and snack milk; several routine financial and procedural items were also approved.
The York Public Schools Board of Education on July 14, 2025, approved a package of routine business including first and final readings of multiple district policies, adoption of the 2025–26 student handbooks and a series of fee schedules affecting activities and food service.
During the meeting at the district superintendent’s office, Board member Brian Tonniges moved to approve the first and final reading of policies numbered 1002, 2006, 2008, 3003, 3004.1, 3023, 3026, 3036, 3043, 3047, 3057, 4051, 4057, 4059, 5001, 5002, 5003, 5015, 5016, 5031, 5034, 6031, 6034, 6044 and 6045. Matt Holthe seconded; the motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote of the six members present.
The board approved the 2025–26 student handbooks as presented after a motion by Alison North and a second from Alex Hildebrand.
On fees, the board set activity pass prices for the 2025–26 school year at $15 for students, $45 for senior citizens (age 60+), $100 for adults and $185 for families, a motion moved by Alex Hildebrand and seconded by Alison North. Lunch prices were set at $3.40 for YES and $3.50 for YMS and YHS after a motion from Matt Holthe and second from Alex Hildebrand. The board also approved maintaining tuition rates for specialized programs at SUCCESS $29,000; SPED II $16,500; Regular Education $12,000; and Regular Education Enrichment Center $13,000 (motion by Brian Tonniges, second by Alison North).
Breakfast prices were approved at $1.80 at YES, YMS and YHS (moved by Matt Holthe, seconded by Brien Alley). The board set the snack milk price at YES at $33 per semester following a motion from Alison North and a second by Matt Holthe.
Earlier on the agenda the board approved the June 9, 2025 minutes and authorized payment of bills; both motions passed by unanimous roll-call votes. The agenda also listed routine reports, including a NASB appearance by John Spatz and updates on early childhood programming and the YES Project.
All recorded motions on the agenda passed on roll-call votes with the six board members present: Alex Hildebrand, Brian Tonniges, Matt Holthe, Pepper Papineau, Brien Alley and Alison North. The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
