The West Chester Area School District Board on June 22 approved a package of operational and budget-related items, including revised school meal prices for 2026-27, multiple memoranda of understanding for education support professionals, and vendor contracts for curriculum, professional development and consulting services.
The board approved the administration—s recommended 2026-27 meal prices after the Property and Finance Committee presentation. Approved prices are: elementary breakfast $1.50 and lunch $3.15; middle school breakfast $1.75 and lunch $3.40; high school breakfast $2.00 and lunch $3.75. The administration cited rising food and shipping costs in recommending the update.
Director Parkinson moved a slate of personnel and program approvals that the board carried by voice vote. Notable approvals reported during committee and consent action included a two-year contract for the HMH 3D English program for multilingual learners (K-12) at a budgeted amount of $85,000, a one-year Rocket professional development contract for $24,495, and K-3 social studies materials (Studies Weekly) budgeted at $118,535. The Property and Finance committee also reported an approved bid award recommendation for district-wide fencing repairs and replacements to Promax Fence Systems for $48,820.
The board approved memoranda of understanding related to vacation hours and unit clarifications for the Westchester Education Support Professionals Association and the Westchester Service Support Professionals Association, and approved a new job description for a Supervisor of Equity. The board also approved a three-year LinkedIn contract at $20,790 per year and a replacement consulting contract with W. Pine Consulting for $65,000 for the 2026-27 year, which the administration said will replace a contract previously held by Foundations Inc.
Why it matters: The meal-price changes affect families who purchase school meals and feed into the district—s food-service budget. Curriculum and professional development contract awards set the instructional materials and training districts will use in the coming year. The MOUs and new position description affect bargaining-unit employees and internal staffing.
Procedural notes: Most agenda items were approved by motion and unanimous voice vote. The transcript records motions originating from Director Parkinson with seconds and "all in favor" voice votes; no recorded roll-call vote tallies by individual board member name were given in the transcript.
The meeting adjourned after public comment and an announced schedule change for the July meeting.
