Calhoun County supervisors accept two road‑project bids, approve local grants and routine appointments

The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday accepted two low bids for county road projects and approved several local funding and administrative actions, all by unanimous vote.
Nick Buse, Calhoun/Sac County Engineer, presented updates and recommended acceptance of bids. The board adopted Resolution 2025-36, accepting Christensen Bros., Inc.'s bid on Project BROS-CO13(105)—8J-13, and Resolution 2025-37, accepting Peterson Contractors Inc.'s bid on Project L-GR3040—73-13. Both resolutions passed after motions recorded by Supervisors Scott Jacobs and Cory Ridgely; the board noted these actions advance planned road work under the county’s engineering program.
The board also approved a $5,000 contribution to the Lohrville Spray Pad after a request from Melissa Kinney of Lohrville Visions and Committee. "We appreciate the county's support for a project that will benefit local families," Kinney said when asking for the contribution. The board voted unanimously in favor (motion by Jacobs, seconded by Ridgely).
In administrative business, Richard Hall, EMA/E911 Director, told the board he is certified as a Public Information Officer; the board approved a motion (Ridgely/Jacobs) naming Hall as Primary PIO and James Heiliger as Assistant PIO. The board also approved allowing the Voya Retirement Plan to offer the RIC program to participating employees, following a request from Jamie McDermott of Voya; the change is optional for individual employees.
As trustees of the county’s drainage districts, supervisors approved several Watchman services contracts: October and November services for JTDD 59-7, October and November services for JTDD 12-22, and October services for JTDD 37-35, with the specific dollar amounts recorded in the county claims ledger. The board reviewed and allowed claims checks (80910–81026), stamped warrants (505976–505994) and bank drafts (DFT0005531–0005566) as presented by the auditor’s office.
The board approved the removal of Rebecca Parker from the Calhoun County Historic Preservation Commission, following a request from Riley Bleam that the change be made in accordance with recent bylaw revisions.
The meeting concluded with acceptance of quarterly reports and adjournment to the organizational meeting scheduled for Jan. 2, 2026. Chair Dave George and Supervisors Cory Ridgely and Scott Jacobs voted on all motions; when the minutes report "Ayes all" no individual roll-call votes were recorded in the transcript.
