Calhoun County Board approves hire, pay increases and routine claims; Farm Lease tabled

The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors approved a bundle of routine personnel and financial actions at its Nov. 12 meeting in Rockwell City.
By unanimous vote the Board approved hiring Dylan Dorage for Secondary Roads effective Nov. 10, 2025, and approved probationary pay increases for Secondary Roads employees Jacob Davis (effective Nov. 12, 2025) and Dustin Rowen (effective Nov. 18, 2025). On behalf of the Calhoun County Conference Board, supervisors also reviewed and approved Assessor Joan Wagner’s timesheet for Oct. 1–31, 2025.
The Board reviewed and allowed claims checks numbered 80573–80670, bank drafts DFT0005406–0005431 and drainage warrants 505960–505974 by motion; the minutes include a detailed vendor list and amounts. The itemized claims appear in the minutes and cover routine supplies, professional services, vaccine purchases and a large construction invoice (Jensen Builders Ltd., $579,485.28) among other entries.
On personnel policy, Veterans Affairs/General Assistance Director Thomas Potter asked about replacing the General Assistance office manager; the Board indicated they would not fill that position at this time. The Board also tabled consideration of the county farm lease until the following week.
All motions were recorded as carried with unanimous votes unless otherwise noted in the minutes.
