Commissioners adopt two traffic ordinances affecting Industrial Park Road and Bainbridge Township

The Dubois County Board of Commissioners adopted two traffic ordinances Sept. 15 that change speed limits on Industrial Park Road and install a stop sign in Bainbridge Township.

Ordinance 2025‑11 amends Schedule II of the county traffic code to change speed limits on portions of Industrial Park Road following annexation of portions of that roadway to the Town of Ferdinand. The ordinance removes the prior 0.57‑mile description and replaces it with segments that set a 35 mph limit for specified portions, including a 0.07‑mile segment from State Road 162 to Ferdinand Town Limits and a 0.13‑mile northern portion from Ferdinand Town Limits to Ferdinand Town Limits. County Engineer Levi Leffert presented the engineering rationale tied to the annexation. The board moved to approve the ordinance as presented and the motion carried unanimously.

Ordinance 2025‑12 amends Schedule III (stop signs) to designate Beth Lane as the preferential highway and add stop signs on the east and west approaches of Todd Lane at its intersection with Beth Lane in Bainbridge Township (BA2). The ordinance becomes effective after the county installs the stop sign on the west approach of Todd Lane with Beth Lane, per the ordinance language. The board approved Ordinance 2025‑12 by motion and unanimous vote.

Both ordinances were entered into the meeting record with full recitals, severability clauses and standard enforcement language referencing applicable Indiana statute and prior county ordinances.
