Bradley County Commission approves moving Emergency Management into 3069 Overlook Drive and OKs $117,506 remodel

The Bradley County Commission on May 5, 2025 voted unanimously to authorize the county mayor to discontinue the existing lease for the property at 3069 Overlook Drive and to allow the Bradley County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) to occupy the building.
Resolution 2025‑12, placed on the agenda by County Mayor D. Gary Davis and moved by Commissioner Mike Hughes with a second from Commissioner Howard L. Thompson, authorizes the mayor to provide notice to the Tennessee Department of Human Services to end the county’s current lease for the 20,711 square‑foot facility. The resolution packet shows the current lease payment amount as $98,193.90 and notes the lease expires Sept. 30, 2025 unless renewed. The resolution says the property will serve as the Bradley County Emergency Operations Center and the OEM's primary administrative offices and that, in times of disaster, the facility will be used to receive and redistribute donated goods and to house local, state and federal response personnel.
The Commission then approved Resolution 2025‑13, also moved by Commissioner Mike Hughes and seconded by Commissioner Bill Winters. That resolution authorizes the Bradley County Mayor to negotiate and enter into an agreement with T&G Construction Inc. to provide remodeling services for the OEM facility at 3069 Overlook Drive for an amount not to exceed $117,506. The resolution notes the project was competitively bid and that county staff recommended proceeding with T&G Construction as the lowest and best bidder.
Both measures passed on roll call votes (13 ayes, none opposed; one absence recorded). Commissioner Josh Rogers separately moved and the Commission approved the reappointment of Kyle Cooper to the Board of Zoning Appeals during the consent agenda.
