Queensbury board adopts WIIA application, extends ambulance contract and approves bills

The Town of Queensbury board on June 25 adopted several resolutions and routine fiscal actions.
The board voted to authorize the submission of a Water Infrastructure Improvement Act (WIIA) grant application for sewer-collection system improvements and committed municipal bonds and reserves as part of the local match required by the program. The board also approved a resubmission of the Phase One WIIA package and asked the supervisor to obtain written confirmation that LaBerge will submit that resubmission at no additional charge.
On personnel, the board read and adopted a resolution recognizing Police Chief Mark Tryon's retirement effective July 1, 2026, and provisionally appointed James Cross as town police chief effective July 1. The board requested that Cross attend the next meeting so he can be publicly introduced.
To maintain emergency coverage while negotiations continue on a successor ambulance-services agreement, the board authorized Supervisor Steven Donnelly to execute a three-month extension of the current agreement with the Ravena Rescue Squad (the resolution text references Town of Coeymans permitting language). Members noted they want clearer financial terms in a successor agreement and asked staff to propose modifications.
The board also approved payment of the bills as presented in the June abstract across funds including general, part-town, highway, sewer and trust & agency funds.
None of these votes created immediate long-term financing commitments for Phase Two of the wastewater project; the board directed follow-up work on intermunicipal cost-sharing and grant strategy.
