Auburn council approves BID and sewer assessments; both measures to appear on Placer County tax roll

On June 22 the Auburn City Council approved by roll call the FY 2026–27 levies for the Oldtown and Downtown business improvement districts (rates unchanged) and authorized placing the FY 2026–27 sewer service charge (including a 5% rate increase) on the Placer County tax roll. Both measures passed on recorded roll calls with no public objections reported at the hearings.
The Auburn City Council on June 22 approved two administrative measures following public hearings: the FY 2026–27 Business Improvement District (BID) assessments for Oldtown and Downtown Auburn, and the sewer service charge placement on the Placer County tax roll.
Finance analyst Christina Schaer told the council the BID assessment rates remain unchanged from the prior year; public comment on the BID assessment was closed with no speakers. Council then voted by roll call to adopt the resolution levying the FY 2026–27 BID assessments.
Public Works Director Menel Dean presented the annual sewer assessment hearing and said the implementation for this year includes a 5% rate increase that council had previously adopted. With no public comment, council closed the hearing and authorized placing the sewer service charge on the Placer County tax roll.
Recorded roll calls show councilmembers Amara, Don Calvio, Redell Harris and Mayor Davis voting to approve each measure. Councilmember Holmes was absent. No separate discussion or items were removed from the consent or these hearings.
