Bradley County Commission approves consent agenda, mayoral appointments and multiple budget amendments

At the June 2 regular session the Bradley County Commission unanimously approved the consent agenda, which included administrative business, mayoral appointments and numerous departmental budget amendments and forms that were recorded as attachments to the meeting minutes.
Commissioner Cindy Slater moved to approve the mayor’s appointments and reappointments (Sandra Knight-Helms to the Hiwassee Utilities Commission for a three-year term; Max Phillips reappointed to the Regional Planning Commission for a four-year term). The motion and other consent items passed 12-0 on roll call.
The packet filed with the meeting includes a long consent list of budget amendment forms and committee recommendations (Finance Committee minutes, department budget amendment forms for Road Department, Mayor’s office, Finance Department, Elections, Juvenile Court, EMS, Fire & Rescue, Medical Examiner and others). Examples in the attachments include a $14,000 transfer in the Road Department to purchase a trailer for hauling mini-excavators and multiple reallocations and transfers across Emergency Management Agency and other departments; those forms were recorded as part of the consent packet.
Commissioner Tim Mason asked that the Bradley County Road Department Internal Controls Manual be recorded in the minutes; the manual and related organizational and purchasing documents were attached to the record. The commission adjourned at 7:28 p.m.
The meeting record lists the consent agenda and all supporting budget amendment forms as attachments and the Finance Committee recommended many of the changes for approval prior to the full commission vote.
