Fire Committee reports full staffing after rookie graduation; committee weighs site clearing and a new mechanic/EVT post

Committee members discussed the south parking lot settling and recommended clearing the property to the property line to improve turn radius and storage. Chairman Hughes suggested the new facility be constructed to allow potential second‑story expansion and requested Director Adam Lewis provide building plans. A motion asking the Mayor to check whether the City of Cleveland or the contractor would clear the land to the property line passed unanimously.
Chief Stewart also told the committee his FY2025–26 budget request includes funding for a mechanic with ASE certification and an emergency‑vehicle technician license to work for both Fire and EMS. He said the individual currently performs work charged roughly $104,000 to Fire and $50,000 to EMS. The committee asked Chief Stewart and Director Lewis to deliver a formal job description and a full county vehicle inventory for review. The meeting adjourned with no public comments recorded.
