Council adopts FY2026 budget amendment, staff report shows increased revenues

The Independence City Council unanimously approved a resolution amending the fiscal-year 2026 budget to align the city’s books with actual revenues and expenditures through the June 30 fiscal year end.
Staff reviewed packet materials showing an increase in total revenues and other sources of nearly $500,000 and additional government and business-type expenditures of $344,442. City staff said the amendment ‘‘brings everything current’’ for the fiscal-year closeout and is a routine annual reconciliation of estimated and actual figures.
Council members had no further questions for staff and approved the amendment on a roll-call vote, 7-0. The adoption documents the changes to revenue and expenditure lines and allows staff to close out the fiscal year consistent with the figures presented.
The council did not authorize any new ongoing programs as part of this amendment; it was described as a housekeeping measure to ensure the city’s fiscal records match year-end activity.
